Wow! Can you believe that Prince is gone? I think everyone is still in shock. I will always remember and cherish Prince for his amazing music and mostly for his sense of style. Fashionistas are mourning Prince like they did when David Bowie left us. Like Mr. Bowie, Prince went against gender rules and norms when it came to style. He also electrified our senses with lavish and over the top outfits that somehow perfectly married male sexuality with feminine fashion pieces. He pushed the envelope is just the right way. As I slowly get over the fact that Prince is no longer with us I continue to read all the amazing articles recapping his amazing contributions to the world of music and fashion. He touched so many lives all over the world.

He definitely affected my life when I was in my early twenties. I remember grooving to Raspberry Beret while walking in Harlem one night and being hypnotized by the feeling pf the song and it's lyrics. I then started listening to more of his music. I couldn't travel to and from work or anywhere for that matter without listening to his music. His music helped to put an extra pep in my step and inspired me to be more sure of myself and the young adult I was coming. I felt sexier and more confident after jamming to his music. I'll never forget that moment in my life that Prince's music helped define. He was truly an icon and legend that will never be forgotten.

I have a feeling purple is going to be a big color this year in tribute to Prince and I wanted to do my part to pay Prince homage with this outfit that has hints of purple. I can't stop wearing this vintage purple and pink floral scarf from Stella Dallas as a turban. It's the perfect size and fabric for a turban. You'll never find me without sunglasses. Thank goodness I finally got some new ones. I scored these from Friends, a super cute store in Bushwick, Brooklyn. I visited this shop for the first time this past weekend and loved it! I was so excited to wear this purple blouse thrifted from Housing Works Thrift Shops. I got it ages ago on a vintage rack at their Chelsea location. This was the first time I tucked it in. I can't wait to wear it tucked into a pair of mom jeans! I finally got to really wear and fall in love with this vintage 60's mod cream cape coat from Etsy Shop Gisela & Zoe. It was perfect for a casual Sunday stroll in the park on a spring afternoon. This skirt is to die for. I got a ton of compliments wearing my new vintage acid wash skirt from 10Ft by Stella Dallas. It's just perfection as I LOVE full skirts and acid wash denim. Just to warn you, I will be wearing this skirt tons more. I finished this look with my favorite lace up flats from Steve Madden. Prince loved velvet and I'm sure he would have loved that I wore these shoes with this outfit.

How big of a Prince fan are you? Will you be wearing any purple as a tribute to prince?

Thanks so much for stopping by and reading!
