Camera Shy

How to get over being camera shy

Who likes having their picture taken? Not me. Yup, I’m a blogger but I kinda HATE having my picture taken. I think I’ve talked a little in a previous post about how I’ve sort of gotten over being so camera shy. I still have way too many hideous photos of me floating all over the internet. And now there’s video too. I still can't bring myself watch them. Hehe.

Now I’m wondering if I’m the only blogger that minds being in front of the camera. I just remember someone telling me before I started blogging to just do it and that I’ll eventually get more comfortable being photographed. It has gotten better over time but I can’t tell you how critical I am over the pics I take. Thank goodness for all the YouTube videos and articles on “how to get over being camera shy”. But here is my advice for getting over camera shyness and taking awesome photos:

  • Review existing pics of yourself and figure out which angles and poses work for you
  • Start taking tons of selfies and have your photo taken often to get used to being in front of the camera
  • Stop being so critical of your pics because most people don’t see the “issues” or insecurities you have with the group pic you just took
  • Relax and be yourself! This always makes for the best photos
  • Lighting is key and outdoor pics usually have the best and most flattering lighting

I’m happy to report that I like the photos from this blog post. I’m a huge fan of culottes and these denim ones are so awesome. I scored them from Improv Goods Vintage and immediately fell in love with them. They are so comfy and I love anything high waisted. I’m still so in LOVE with the off-the-shoulder trend. Lately, I’ve read quite a few fashion articles that are pretty anti-off the off the shoulder anything. But it’s such a retro look that I’m so happy has made a comeback. Wearing off the shoulder anything makes me feel super feminine and a bit sexy.

Check out all my outfit details below:
