Strolling through Chinatown, New York City

Chinatown, New York City

Spring came for a visit this past weekend in New York City. As soon as I saw that the temps would be in the 50's I jumped on the subway and headed to one of my favorite neighborhoods, Chinatown. Apparently, I wasn't the only one. The streets of Chinatown were packed with tourists, locals and other bloggers doing photo shoots. Lol!

I love walking and exploring neighborhoods right here in my own city. And I haven't walked around Chinatown in about a year. It's such a lively place. This vibrant neighborhood has a special place in my heart. I used to visit it with family and friends when I was a teenager. It's also the first neighborhood ever I traveled to solo as a teen on the subway. Riding the trains can be scary and confusing when you're young and not used to it. Hehe. I used to come here to check out all the shops and to eat super tasty food. Nowadays, I avoid Canal street and have managed to learn so many side streets which tend to be less crowded and have cute little shops.

I started off with lunch at Vegetarian Dim Sum House. I'm vegetarian and have been coming to this restaurant for almost a decade. The food is super tasty. I'm hooked on the fried noodles and sweet and salty dumplings. After lunch, I walked all through the busy streets eventually stopping in a grocery store for some Japanese curry which I often have a hard time finding anywhere else. I then made a stop at Pearl River for incense cones in amazing scents that I've never seen anywhere else. I am so in love with this store because they have such cute and fun items and home decor.

I always seem to wear red when visiting Chinatown. I turned heads just a bit with this bright red coat from Noir Ohio. I was super comfy in these high waisted jeans from Noir Ohio. And these flats from ASOS were surprisingly comfy. They're so cute, right? I'm a little obsessed with them.

What's your favorite neighborhood in New York City?? Have you ever gotten lost in Chinatown and explored any hidden gems?
