How to Dress for New York Fashion Week

My New York Fashion Week Streetstyle

Ahhh. New York Fashion Week a.k.a NYFW is such a rush and a super stylish time that occurs twice a year in my beloved city. I'm so honored and beyond excited to be apart of it! Did you read my post My First Busy New York Fashion Week where I dished about my NYFW experience for S/S '18 in September '17?? Getting invites to NYFW is no easy feat but once you're in the fashion inspiration is in overload. And dressing for NYFW is the most fun fashion experience of my life! My advice for dressing for NYFW is to go a little over the top with your outfit with mixing pieces together in a crazy but wearable way while still staying true to your personal style and look. I tend to lay out my looks and outfits a few days in advance and find myself constantly mixing them up and changing them as the days get closer to the shows and events. I'm always trying to put together outfits that mix a lot of colors and interesting details.

I certainly did my best to dress the part for February NYFW which is still going on as I type this. Lol. I took it a little easy this season and scaled back on the number of shows I attended. For some reason, my schedule is jam-packed with events and tons of meetups this whole week. Balance is so key and I don't want a meltdown like I experienced in the previous fashion week. I had one full day of shows on Saturday, February 10th, and a show/events here and there on other days.

Here's my outfit of the day for day 3 of fashion week. I have so many show-stopping pieces in my vintage collection. But I'm a denim girl and just had to wear this sequin and heavily embellished jean dress from my favorite vintage shop Smock Walker Vintage (@smockwalkervintage. Isn't it fun?? I paired it with a cool pair of jeans from one of my favorite vintage shops in the whole wide world, East Village Vintage Collective (@evvintagecollective). Thank goodness for these comfy booties from Nine West that I scored from Marshalls! Are you hooked on shopping at Marshalls like I am??
