Why I love Philadelphia

Why You Should Visit Philadelphia

Hmm. Why do I love Philadelphia so much?? Maybe because it's gritty, busy and happening kinda like New York. I'm a New Yorker who's not afraid to profess my love for Philadelphia. Apparently, there's some beef between NYC and Philly. I have no idea what it is. But from what I gather from a few folks that I've talked to, it may have something to do with sports. I'm a tomboy at heart but sports are such a bore to me. So if that's the reason, I'm very happy to ignore it.

I'm gabbing so much about Philly because I get asked all the time why I visit Philadelphia so much. I head there every chance I get. I've been in love with Philly since I was a kid. I was a bit of a nerd and loved history (still do). I don't have family there that I visit. I mostly go for a quick getaway from New York City. Also, the food and vintage shopping is so good in Philadelphia. Read all about why I love Philly so much!

An Easy Get Away from NYC

Philadelphia is such an easy trip from NYC. Over the years, I've gone there by bus, car, and train. Either way, it's about an hour and a half to two hours from NYC. My favorite way to get there is by train via Amtrak. Just book your ticket pretty far in advance. I think I booked my ticket about two months before and it was about $78 round trip. It's def the easiest way to go. You just sit back, relax and you're there in about an hour and a half. I love getting there by Amtrak because it's the easiest way to go, the train is comfy and leaves you at the beautiful 30th street station in Philly where you can cab it, walk it, catch a Lyft or Uber, catch the metro or bus to your hotel or Airbnb. I always stay in a hotel in Philly since I always bring my pup and really love staying in Center City or the Old City where all the action and good food is located

Amazing Food

Speaking of food....One of my top reasons for visiting Philly so much may just be the amazing food. Food is a major reason why I love my hometown of NYC so much. But Philly has some pretty special food that never seems to disappoint. Two of my favs places to eat every time I'm in Philly are Ariana and Chestnut Street Philly Bagels. I never have enough time in Philly so I tend to go back to the same food places each trip because they are so incredibly good and I'm such a creature of habit. Lol. But my new obsession is Reading Terminal Market. It's worth visiting Philly even for a day trip just to eat your way through this indoor farmer's market.

Great Vintage Shopping

I've been vintage shopping in Philadelphia for over ten years. And it blows me away every time! Check out my Vintage Shopping In Philadelphia: My Top 3 post if you haven't already. Much like the restaurants, I never really have enough time to check out all the other fabulous vintage shops I've heard about in Philly. But I'm still obsessed with Retrospect Vintage and Sazz Vintage. They both have such amazing vintage goodies at super affordable prices. I have to take a day or two on my next trip to check out all the fab other vintage shops I've heard of in Philly.
