New Year, Better Me: How To












Man, 2018 was a year of ups and downs, as per most years I guess. When I asked folks to sum of their 2018, most said it was just MEH or was pretty horrible. It's so funny how we tend to focus on the bad stuff and forget about the amazing stuff that happens. In honesty, my year started off pretty awesome...I'm starting to get where I want to be financially, professionally and spiritually. But it kind of took a nose dive in June when I got sick and found myself under the weather for most of the remainder of the year. It was such a bummer because I pretty much lost most of my motivation to work or do just about anything. I talked about it just a bit in my last post, Comfy & Chic Christmas Outfit.

But anywho, I'm planning on focusing on getting exactly where I want to be by tackling my to-do list a.k.a New Year's resolutions. And I'll attempt to do it all while wearing the cutest vintage outfits (*outfit details linked below). Here are my tips on how to make 2019 your best year yet and two of my resolutions for the new year.


1. Focus on the Good 

Focus on all the good and amazing things that happened in 2018. Find out what made you happy, what made you smile and find all the ways to have more of that in your life. If hanging with your girl squad made you the happiest, plan more meetups with them. If travel brought you tremendous joy, head to Kayak.com or Google Flights and start browsing and planning a trip or two. 

2. Reflect on the Not So Good 

So, if there were things that weren't so good reflect on them but don't dwell on them too much. Instead, figure out what you learned from them and how to keep them from happening again. If you shopped too much and spent way too much, create a budget and maybe sell some of the clothes and shoes you don't want on Depop or Poshmark to help right the wrongs of your shopaholic ways. I totally need to do this btw...

3. Make a List

I think it's so true that you can speak things into existence. And I think it's so important to write down all your dreams, hopes and aspirations. I have an ongoing list on my phone of all my goals and dreams. I bullet point them down and then I write little notes under each on how I plan on achieving them. So whatever it is that your heart desires, whether it's buying an apartment or starting a blog in the New Year, first write it down and then start researching the steps on how to achieve it, making notes and steps on how to get you there along the way. 

AND here are my top two resolutions and how I plan on tackling them:

Get Financially Fit

I know what you're thinking, this is literally on everyone's list. I've put off being on top of my finances and money for years. I started writing down my financial goals months ago and it felt so good just to get started and have an idea of what steps I need to take to get to where I want to be. I'm going to have to hustle hard this year, go back to school and have even more meetings with my lawyer to get my business and blog where I want it to be. Stay tuned for some fun stuff. I'm going to have to take pretty major plunges this year and I'm so ready and excited for it! 

Get Fit & Healthy

I know this must be number one for most people for the New Year's resolutions. But much like my financial health, I've neglected my fitness and overall health for years. This year I plan on implementing some type of workout routine no matter what. I plan on getting up early and/or devoting time when I get home in the evenings to yoga, pilates or cardio.  I also plan on heading back to the doctor for follow-ups on all my checkups from late summer. I'm a wus and totally got too scared to finish following up with some of my doctors which is horrible, I know. But I'll be on Zoc Doc asap to schedule appointments. I'm also going to be taking care of my mental health because being mentally worn out and run down is no bueno. Lately, self-care has become my thing! Nothing brings me more happiness than doing things on my happiness/self-care list which includes taking baths, listening to music, long walks, hair care and at home spa days.
